The route at a glance

The Vennbahn cycle route runs for about 125 kilometres along a former railway line through Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg, and is one of the longest converted railway lines in Europe. It starts in Aachen and leads through the valleys and forests of the Eifel and across the High Fens, a raised bog with rare plants and wildlife. You pass Monschau with its old town and the Belgian town of St. Vith. The old railway bed keeps the path flat and well surfaced, so beginners manage it easily.
