The route at a glance

The Vechtetalroute follows the Vechte for about 223 kilometres, from Darfeld in the Münsterland to where the river flows into the Zwarte Water in the Netherlands. You ride past meadows, woods and quiet riverbanks and cross the German-Dutch border into the province of Overijssel. In Schüttorf, Nordhorn and Coevorden you can stop for castles, palaces and half-timbered houses. The route is well signposted, flat to gently rolling and suits riders of every level.
