The route at a glance
The Töddenland cycle route is about 122 kilometres long and runs through the Tecklenburger Land in northwest Germany. From Ibbenbüren you follow the traces of the Tödden, travelling merchants of the 17th and 18th centuries, through Mettingen, Recke and Hopsten, where museums, churches and old trading posts tell their story. The landscape alternates between gentle hills, woods and heath, and the raised bog of the Recker Moor nature reserve is a special stretch. The route is well signposted, flat to slightly hilly and manageable for less experienced riders.
