The route at a glance

The Rhenish Apple Route is a loop of about 124 kilometres through the Rhein-Sieg district, where fruit growing shapes the landscape. Starting from Meckenheim, the apple town, you ride through orchards of apple, cherry and plum trees and through places such as Rheinbach, Swisttal and Bornheim. Information points explain the region's fruit growing, and many farms sell juice and apple cake. The route is well signposted, mostly flat and runs on quiet country roads and cycle paths, so it suits families and easy stages.
