The route at a glance

The Remstal cycle route follows the Rems for about 105 kilometres, from its source near Essingen on the edge of the Swabian Alb to where it joins the Neckar at Remseck. You ride past vineyards, orchards and woods and through the old towns of Schwäbisch Gmünd and Schorndorf. The Rems valley is wine country, so it is worth stopping at a winery or a Besenwirtschaft, one of the seasonal wine taverns. The route is well signposted and mostly flat, a good choice for a short, relaxed tour with luggage.
