The route at a glance

The German North Sea Cycle Route is the German part of EuroVelo 12 and runs for about 930 kilometres from the Dutch border near Bunde to the Danish border near Niebüll. Most of the time you ride right along the dike, looking out over marshland and the Wadden Sea, and pass through Emden, Wilhelmshaven, Bremerhaven, Cuxhaven and Stade. Near Brunsbüttel the route crosses the Kiel Canal and then follows the coast via Büsum, St. Peter-Ording and Husum. The paths are flat, asphalt or compacted gravel, but expect headwinds.
