The route at a glance
The Lake Neusiedl cycle route loops for about 125 kilometres around Central Europe's largest steppe lake, crossing between Austria and Hungary. From Neusiedl am See, a good starting point, you ride through the Fertő/Neusiedlersee UNESCO World Heritage landscape, past reed beds and the shallow, often windy lake. Wine villages such as Rust and Podersdorf invite you to taste the local wine, and you will see plenty of stork nests along the way. The paths are well surfaced, signposted and flat, so less experienced riders can manage it easily.
