The route at a glance
La Vélo Francette crosses France for about 630 kilometres, from Ouistreham on the Normandy coast to La Rochelle on the Atlantic. First you follow the Orne south and later the Mayenne, through meadows, forests and villages with old farmhouses. In the Pays de la Loire you reach Angers and Saumur, with their châteaux and vineyards. It makes a relaxed cycling trip, and at the end La Rochelle awaits with its historic harbour and old fortifications.
