The route at a glance

The Havel cycle route follows the Havel for about 370 kilometres, from its source near Ankershagen in the Mecklenburg Lake District to where it meets the Elbe at Havelberg. In the north you ride through woods, fields and lakes good for a swim, and pass through Neustrelitz. Further on the route takes you through Berlin, Brandenburg an der Havel with its medieval old town and the Havelland that Theodor Fontane wrote about. It ends at Havelberg and its cathedral island, just before the Havel flows into the Elbe.
