The route at a glance

The Five Rivers Cycle Path is a loop of around 300 kilometres through Bavaria along the Danube, Altmühl, Pegnitz, Vils and Naab. It starts and ends in Regensburg, whose old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Through the Altmühl valley and its rock formations you reach Nuremberg on the Pegnitz and its castle, then the Vils takes you into the Upper Palatinate and the Naab brings you back to Regensburg. The paths are well built and signposted, with plenty of places to stay, inns and beer gardens.
