The route at a glance
The Eder-Radweg follows the Eder for about 170 kilometres, from its source in the Rothaar Mountains to where it flows into the Fulda near Edermünde. You ride through the green Eder valley with its meadows and woods and pass through Frankenberg and Fritzlar with their half-timbered old towns. The main sight is the Edersee, one of Germany's largest reservoirs, next to the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park, whose beech forests are a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. The path is well built and signposted and suits a first multi-day river tour.
