The route at a glance

The Danube Cycle Path runs for about 1,200 kilometres from Donaueschingen, where the Danube rises, to Budapest. In Germany you pass through Ulm, whose minster has the tallest church spire in the world, and Regensburg with its medieval old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Austria brings the Danube loop, Melk with its abbey, and Vienna. The paths are well built and signposted with plenty of places to stay, so the route works for families as well as experienced touring cyclists.
