The route at a glance

The Alpe-Adria cycle route covers about 410 kilometres from Salzburg across the Alps to Grado on the Adriatic. You start in the Salzach valley and ride into the mountains of the Hohe Tauern National Park, then cross the main Alpine ridge and descend into Friuli. From there the riding gets gentler, through vineyards and villages, until you reach the coast at Grado. The route is well signposted and there is plenty of accommodation along the way for planning your stages.
